WINDKIND WINDKIND

Responsibility

Sailing lightly

The sea is our home, and we want to leave it as beautiful as we found it. That is why WINDKIND is a sailing yacht at heart, powered by wind and sun wherever possible, and why we take care of the waters, coasts and communities we visit.

Our commitments

  • Wind first: we sail whenever conditions allow
  • Solar power for quieter evenings at anchor
  • Drinking water made on board, no bottled water
  • Sand first: we anchor with care for seagrass and coral
  • Local produce, local partners, a fairly employed crew
  • 1 % of every charter fee for healthier seas

Powered by Wind & Sun

WINDKIND is a sailing catamaran, and we sail whenever conditions allow. Her performance sails by Incidence let her sail even in light winds, so the engines can stay off more often and the passage between anchorages becomes part of the experience. On board, 7 kWp of solar panels charge a 61 kWh lithium battery bank, so on many evenings at anchor the generator can stay off, and all you hear is the sound of the sea. Many of our water toys need no engine at all: paddleboards, kayaks and surfboards. Our Seabobs and Flite eFoils are electric and glide silently, without fuel or fumes; water skis, wakeboards and towables are pulled by the tender.

Protecting the Ocean

Two watermakers turn seawater into fresh drinking water, so there is no bottled water on board: every guest receives their own WINDKIND bottle on arrival. We keep single-use plastic to a minimum: the bathrooms are stocked with Salt & Stone shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in refillable dispensers, topped up on board from large containers. Waste is separated on board and recycled ashore wherever facilities allow. We take great care where we drop anchor: we choose sand wherever possible, avoid seagrass meadows and coral, and use mooring buoys in marine parks. Wastewater is collected in holding tanks, never discharged in protected areas. Mineral sunscreen with SPF 50 is provided on board, and we kindly ask guests to bring only mineral sunscreen without oxybenzone or octinoxate.

  • 2 watermakers, 300 litres per hour each
  • A WINDKIND bottle for every guest
  • Sand first: anchoring with care for seagrass and coral
  • Mineral sunscreen SPF 50 on board
  • Salt & Stone amenities in refillable dispensers

A second chance

In October 2026, our crew spotted a sea turtle trapped in a discarded drift net off Mallorca. Captain David and the crew brought it on board, carefully cut away the heavy lines and released it back into the deep blue. Moments like this remind us why we take such care of the waters we sail.

People & Places

Responsible travel is also about people. Our crew of four is employed in line with the Maritime Labour Convention, the international standard for fair and safe working conditions at sea, with proper rest times and comfortable crew quarters. A well-rested crew makes for a better holiday. Wherever possible, our chef buys fresh produce, fish (unless we have caught it ourselves) and wine from local markets, fishermen and producers, and we work with local guides, such as the river guides of Dominica.

  • Fairly employed, experienced crew
  • Fresh produce from local markets and fishermen
  • Local guides and partners

Sail with us responsibly

  • Bring mineral sunscreen without oxybenzone or octinoxate, or simply use ours on board.
  • Admire marine life from a distance: please do not touch corals, seagrass or animals.
  • Refill instead of buying: your WINDKIND bottle is yours for the whole charter.
  • Leave only footprints: whatever you take ashore comes back on board with us, where we separate it for recycling.
  • Ask for the catch of the day: our chef loves cooking with what local fishermen bring in.
